Tomato Base for Pizza
- 15ml olive oil
- 1 onion chopped
- 1 clove garlic, crushed
- 410 g can chopped tomatoes
- 10ml sugar
- salt and pepper
- 45ml chopped fresh basil
- Heat the oil and gently fry the onions and garlic until soft.
- Add the tomatoes, sugar and simmer for 20 minutes until thick.
- Season well and stir in chopped basil.
- The sauce may be pureed or left chunky.
