The New Reclaimers
Dan Hill and Charis Williams are “The New Reclaimers”.
They built up a unique, award winning reclamation and salvage business in Brighton, stocking it for next to nothing.
They reclaim excess product, “waste”, from some of the UK’s biggest property developers. Everything from baths to sinks, tiles to toilets, bricks to floors, walls to windows and kitchens to conservatories. They then sell these goods on to customers.
In this series, Dan and Charis face the ultimate test: can they use their unique skills at sourcing materials for the lowest possible costs to achieve life-changing home transformations across the country in the tightest time-frames and on the lowest budgets?
This week Dan and Charis are in Glasgow, helping the Jack family transform their cramped snug into an expanded family sitting area. But with the coldest weather in a hundred years and heavy snow to contend with, will they be able to meet the challenge?
This week Dan and Charis are in North Wales at the home of Nick and Elsie Roberts. Not only is their bathroom way out of date, but Elsie’s back problems mean that it’s now also totally impractical. Can Dan and Charis create a new state of the art bathroom at such low expense that there’s enough money left over to make over the spare bedroom as well?
This week Dan and Charis are in Northshields, helping the Kaya family transform their cramped kitchen and create a more user-friendly set of family spaces. But with a load-bearing wall to knock down and a new kitchen to source, will they be able to complete the job with a budget of just £5000?
This week Dan and Charis are in Merseyside at the home of Shane & Michelle Askew. There’s always a crowd of teenagers at ‘Hotel Askew’ and this close-knit bunch would like to unite their kitchen and family room to make a more sociable but functional supersize family living and eating space. But with quotes coming in at almost double their budget, will The New Reclaimers be able to help them realise their dream?
This week Dan and Charis are in Uxbridge at the home of cookery writer Manju Malhi and her mum Kami. Their tired kitchen is in dire need of a facelift and they’d like to incorporate their Indian roots into the design but quotes for the work have been too much for them. It’s a tall order but The New Reclaimers are so confident that they can do it on budget that they’ll also be able to tackle the dining room into the bargain – to create 2 Anglo-Indian themed rooms for the price of 1.
