Overview

The nation is in lockdown, and so is Kirstie, so she’s is learning new crafts and skills that will help us all through the next few months. Like the rest of the nation, Kirstie is staying home, so she’ll be crafting with what’s available. She’ll show us that even with scraps of fabric from around your house, you can still make something incredible. From fabric flowers and 3D leaves, to winter wonderlands and weaving, you’ll be inspired whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just want something fun to do.  But while she’s self-isolating, she’s not alone, she’ll be going on-line to speak to crafting experts for hints and tips and she’ll be calling on the crafting community to send in the things they’ve been making during lockdown.  And for good measure she’ll throw in a few smaller makes that are completely different. Crafts you can do with your family to create magical makes, bring generations together and help keep boredom and isolation at bay.

19-25 July: Episode 1

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning to make a spectacular patchwork cushion and all the different needlework techniques and skills involved. She’ll be making four different panels for the cushion to represent the four seasons. Today she’s making 3-D flowers to represent Spring.

She’ll also be showing us how to make beautiful paper garland to brighten up your home and a bug hotel to welcome the six-legged visitors you are allowed to your home, two fun makes that anyone could tackle.

Plus she’ll be going on-line to speak to crafting experts and she’ll be calling on the crafting community to send in the things they’ve been making during lockdown.

Episode 2

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning to make a beautiful patchwork cushion and all the different needlework techniques and skills involved. She’ll be making four different panels for the cushion to represent the four seasons. Today she’s creating the Summer section of the cushion, weaving a beach scene panel onto a homemade cardboard loom and then appliqueing on a beach hut and some bunting.

She’ll also be showing us how to make two magical makes: the cutest robot dog out of tin cans and scrap metal, and terrarium to bring a bit of outside in.

Episode 3

Across the week, Kirstie is learning to make a beautiful patchwork cushion and all the different needlework techniques and skills involved. She’ll be making four different panels for the cushion to represent the four seasons. Today she’s creating the Autumn section of the cushion, making the perfect fabric to 3D autumnal leaves from.

She’ll also be showing us how to create a bit of luxury we’re all craving at the moment with a delicious homemade body scrub.

Episode 4

Across the week, Kirstie is learning to make a beautiful patchwork cushion and all the different needlework techniques and skills involved. She’ll be making four different panels for the cushion to represent the four seasons. Today she is creating the Winter panel, using the magical method of reverse dying. She’s using bleach, a dark blue fabric and some foraged foliage make a winter wonderland.

If you’ve been wondering what to do with your loo roll innards, look no further, Kirstie has the answer with some cute loo roll animals, a perfect make for children.

Episode 5

Across the week, Kirstie is learning to make a beautiful patchwork cushion and all the different needlework techniques and skills involved. She’ll be making four different panels for the cushion to represent the four seasons. Today she is sewing the panels together and creating some fabulous embellishments, from macramé feathers and old-fashioned pompoms to tassels that will set the cushion apart from your run of the mill patchwork.

She’ll also be showing you how to make gorgeous flower prints from left-over vegetables and something children and adults alike will love, a beehive piñata.

Episode 6

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning all things paper craft as she designs and makes a name sign for her son, Oscar’s wall. Today she’s designing the letter O and filling it with 3-D paper flowers. To learn how to make the flowers she’s getting top tips from paper artist, Kerry Hartley-Davies.

She’ll also be showing us how to make a brilliant cushion out of an old jumper and she’ll be trying her hand at one of her favourite crafts from the past, Mexican tin art, her top tip, you’ll need to order a take-away if you want to have a go – not such a terrible thing!

Episode 7

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning all things paper craft. Today she’s making a very cool lightbox as part of a sign for her son Oscar’s room.

She’ll also be getting back to nature and creating something to bring joy to everyone’s hearts, a beautiful Spring wreath. If you want something fun to do with the children, she has a great idea for painting stones to create a game.

Episode 8

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning all things paper craft as she designs and makes a name sign for her son, Oscar’s wall. Today she is making a 3D letter and decoupaging it with an old map, topped off with an origami kite.

She’ll also be having fun experimenting with string art to create a hot air balloon and she’ll be raiding her button box to transform an old lampshade.

Episode 9

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning all things paper craft as she designs and makes a name sign for her son, Oscar’s wall. Today she’s embracing papercutting and origami to create the letter A.

She’ll also be transforming old fabric by dying them with turmeric and she’ll be embroidering onto her jumper cushion made earlier in the week.

Episode 10

Across the week, Kirstie will be learning all things paper craft as she designs and makes a name sign for her son, Oscar’s wall. Today it’s all about the art of quilling which she masters to fashion the letter R. Plus she’ll reveal how all the letters come together to form sign made with love, which has real impact.

She’ll also be chatting online with her old friend Zack to find out the best way to craft a wire creature.
