Wehani Rice

Wehani Rice is a brown rice developed in California from basmati rice seeds. It has a good, nutty fragrant flavour, a chewy texture and a great reddish brown colour that pops on the plate.

Yield: 4 servings.


  • 1 tsp. butter or olive oil
  • 1 cup wehani rice, rinsed
  • 2 cups chicken stock, vegetable stock or water
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste


  1. In a medium pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil over high heat.
  2. Stir, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving.
  4. Fluff with fork and serve.
