‘Escape to the Chateau: DIY’ is the spin-off show to the ratings-busting ‘Escape to the Chateau’, the series starring Dick Strawbridge, his wife Angel Adoree and their two children. But where ‘Escape to the Chateau’ is about the trials and tribulations faced by Dick and Angel as they moved to France and started a new life renovating and running their 18th century chateau as a business, ‘Escape to the Chateau: DIY’, is a series about other Brits, trying to do the same thing!
In this series we see how sixteen British owners of amazing chateaus – aged from the 10th to the 18th Centuries and dotted throughout every nook and cranny of France – are desperately trying to renovate and convert their (usually run-down) French castles into amazing, fairy-tale homes and money-making businesses. We follow these Brits – couples and families – as they laugh, cry, triumph, despair, conquer and fail in their seemingly never-ending challenge to renovate and maintain their huge French castles. This is an observational documentary series that gets warts-and-all access to their everyday lives and struggles, and the pursuit of their dreams.
Dick and Angel are in this series too! In every episode, we see them adapting, building, maintaining, and creating new things at their chateau. In addition, they’ll be lending a hand and offering advice to these Brits doing the same thing.
