Instructions
Step 1:
Matting:
Cut out the following rectangles from the sheet: Avalanche Cardstock – 12 x rectangles measuring 2.5” x 3.5” Optional: corner round, using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Tumbled Glass.
Step 2:
Avalanche Rectangles:
- Using a clear embossing ink pad, ink up a script stamp (I used the Tim Holtz Papillon Stamp Set) of your choice and stamp one of your rectangles vertically. Then pour over clear embossing powder and shake off the excess and return it to the bottle. Using a heat tool, heat set the embossing powder.
- Repeat the above process using a background stamp (I used the cracks stamp from the Tim Holtz Cracks and Specks Stamp Set).
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Tumbled Glass, ink all of your rectangles about 2/3 of each one. The lighter ink must be at the top of each rectangle, so bear this in mind when inking the stamped and embossed rectangles.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Broken China, ink the centre area of each of your rectangles. Do not panic if the colours are not perfectly blended at this stage.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Faded Jeans, ink the bottom third of each rectangle. Do not panic if the colours are not perfectly blended at this stage.
- Now, using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Tumbled Glass (the lightest colour), apply some ink to the entire surface of each rectangle, pulling colour from the darkest section of the rectangle, towards the lightest end of the rectangle. This
- will blend all the colours together properly.
- Cover one of your rectangles using Tim Holtz Tissue Tape (I used the music notes tape from the Symphony Set).
- Tear off 3 strips of Tissue Tape (I used the script tape from the Symphony Set) and adhere randomly to one of the rectangles.
- Using your script stamp and Staz On Ink Pad: Timber Brown, stamp one of your rectangles with the script image.
- Using another stamp (I used the dragonfly from the Tim Holtz Classics 1 Stamp Set), and Staz On Ink Pad: Timber Brown, stamp one of the rectangles with the image. Stamp the same image onto another, spare sheet of Avalanche cardstock and colour
- using your Tumbled Glass and Broken China ink pads and then cut out the image. Stamp one last time onto a sheet of acetate (using your Timber Brown Staz On – as it is permanent on non-porous surfaces) and then just cut the wings out. Adhere the full
- cut out image of the dragonfly, to the surface of the image stamped onto the rectangle, using foam strips. Using a strong adhesive like glossy accents, stick the acetate wings to the top of the image.
- Stamp other images like a feather, birds nest, bird and egg (from the Tim Holtz ‘Bird Feather’ Stamp Set) as well as a word relevant to your photographs (I used Miscellaneous from the Tim Holtz Purveyor Stamp Set) onto a sheet of Avalanche cardstock
- using Staz On Ink Pad: Timber Brown and cut out the images.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Broken China, ink the egg and the nest and the word.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Walnut Stain, ink the edges of all your cut out images.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Walnut Stain, ink the edges of all your inked rectangles.
- You can add a more ink to the surface of the Tissue Tape if you feel it is too light.
- Adhere the Bird and Egg to the rectangle with the stamped brown script and using foam strips, adhere the nest to the same rectangle.
- Using foam strips, adhere the stamped feather to the rectangle with the embossed script stamped image.
- Adhere a metal butterfly to the rectangle with the three torn strips of tissue tape.
- Adhere some paper flowers to the bottom of the rectangle covered in the music notes tissue tape and then insert a Tim Holtz Memo Pin and a word relevant to the photo’s you are using in this layout.
- Colour some photo corners (cut from the Tim Holtz ATC and Corners die) using your blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Walnut Stain and adhere them to two of the rectangles.
- Add photos to the remaining rectangles (6 in total).
Step 3:
Background Pages:
- Stamp a full 12” x 12” sheet of Avalanche cardstock using the background stamp you used on the 2.5” x 3.5” rectangle – I used the Cracks stamp. Stamp randomly around the page using Staz On Ink Pad: Timber Brown.
- Cut the cardstock to measure 11.5” x 11.5”
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Tumbled Glass, ink the edges of the page.
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Walnut Stain, ink over the edges again.
- Mat onto a sheet of Tim Holtz Distress Core’dinations Cardstock: Tumbled Glass
- Using a blending tool and Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad: Walnut Stain, ink the edges of the Tumbled Glass cardstock.
Step 4:
Assembling Your Page:
- Background Sheet: Matted Stamped Cardstock adhere your 2.5” x 3.5” matted rectangles to the background page, spaced evenly apart, in the order that best suits you.
- Using foam strips, adhere your word to the top, centre of the layout.
