D-SIGN is a 25 minutes lifestyle magazine show which presents the most avant-garde and fascinating trends from the architecture and interior design in Europe. The programme includes visits to the most remarkable houses and commercial spaces from the European continent, designed by the most significant architects throughout last

Episode 1.

The Italian brand Bisazza takes traditional artisan ceramics and adds to this the strength of colour and the brilliance of jewels.This showroom is located in Milan. Designer Pepe Cabrera creates an interior design project in Valencia that combines international design brands with the prominent role of art pieces.

The “Floating House” a floating home on the river Seine, was created by the Boroullec Brothers to accommodate artists. The Chiswick Moran Hotel can be found in the heart of West London, an elegantly designed hotel which was awarded best-designed hotel in 2006 by the European Hotel Design Awards Association. In the city of Graz, in South East Austria, we discover a surprising urban architectural proposal: the contemporary Kunsthaus Graz museum of art.

Episode 2.

Designer Nani Marquina works in Barcelona and symbolizes a revolution in rugs. Ideas she gives form to through her rugs translate into imaginative and colorful designs, which manage to revitalize this sector, as no one has ever done before.

McKay and Partners studio has transformed an old state office in London into a family home. The Gianfranco Ferré Spa represents a haven of peace amid the hustle and bustle of Milan. Prestigious chef Sergi Arola’s designer restaurant, the Arola-Madrid, is housed in the extension of what is the Reina Sofia National Museum Centre of Contemporary Arts. The Gläserne Manufaktur, or Glass Factory, is a Volkswagen car factory located in Dresden (Germany). It was designed by the Gunter Henn architecture studio.

Episode 3.

In one of BoConcept’s head offices, situated in Berlin, we can observe  the quality of its products, mostly composed of wooden furniture. The Puerta América Hotel, in Madrid, immerses its clients in a world where architecture and design are the stars. Mandarina Duck located in a surprising space within London’s City of Westminster. The interior design of this magical place has been created by the prestigious Dutch designer Marcel Wanders.

Loft XX is located in a well-known Parisian district and the LAN architecture studio defines it as “architecture within architecture”. Maggie’s Centre is a building located in Dundee, Scotland, and designed by Frank Gehry, and is dedicated to the care of cancer patients; it came about from an idea by Maggie Keswick Jencks.  

Episode 4.

In the B&B showroom located in Milan we can observe furniture creations by designers such as Antonio Citterio, Paolo Piva, Mario Bellini, and Roberto Barbieri, amongst others. The architect Lars Courage develops, from his own studio located in the Dutch city of Apeldoorn, his innovative path in creating private and public spaces aimed at all kinds of people. The City Inn Westminster Hotel in London combines a passion for both contemporary design and innovating everyday interiors.

Unoom Restaurant displays an avant-garde and modern look framed by the Costa Blanca’s inner landscape, in La Nucía (Alicante). The Jewish Museum in Berlin, created by North American architect Daniel Liebskind, is one of the most noted constructions in the European cultural panorama and it has turned into an emblematic Berlin monument.

Episode 5.

The company Santa & Cole, located in Barcelona,  offers all kinds of domestic and urban furniture and lighting. Its 20 years of experience is reflected in its know-how when choosing objects and designs. In Madrid, this house, designed by A-Cero architecture, presents a set of volumes in which the objective was to merge culture with everyday living thus creating a union between art and object. Luxury and sophistication combine in Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery shop, located in Paris’ Vendome Square.

The Belforterstraße Boarding House, found in Berlin, is an original building coming about from the full renovation of an old building in the German capital city. The Turning Torso is the highest residential skyscraper in the city of Malmö, Sweden. Designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, its architecture represents the essence of the human torso turned over on itself.

Episode 6.

Black + Blum is a design company located in London, set up by Dan Black and Martin Blum. Decorative elements for the home and lamps form a part of the range of products made and sold by its worldwide distribution network. The Five Hotel in Paris invites its clients to develop their five senses through the experiences lived through within the hotel. Remei Serra Hairdresser’s, located in Banyoles (Girona), is a space where the use of modern interior design has brought this beauty salon prestige and international renown.

Nhow Restaurant in Milan means a synthesis between haut-cuisine and gastronomic trends where diners will be astounded by the quality and the imagination of the dishes. Rotterdam’s Cubic Houses, created by the architecht Piet Blom, represent a new and transgressor housing concept.

Episode 7.

The company Droog Design, created by designers Gijs Bakker and Renny Ramakers in Amsterdam, has been recognised as one of the most prestigious teams in the european design. This family home designed by architect Javier de la Calzada is located in Madrid. Situated in one of the most beautiful and centrally situated areas of Barcelona, the Cram Hotel thanks to its interior design has become a rule breaking space.

Konstam at the Prince Albert Restaurant, run by the prestigious television chef Oliver Rowe, has become one of the trendiest places in London city. The Arab World Institute designed by architect Jean Nouvel is located in the Parisian Sant Germain district.

Episode 8.

The German company Dedon has stores in more than 52 countries around the world, amongst which the Vienna, Barcelona and Paris’ showrooms stand out. The Amsterdam’s Lute Suites are plenty of decorative elements that come from one of the most important international interior designers, the Dutch Marcel Wanders. Shêd Club has become one of the most prestigious London’s private clubs. Francesc Rifé studio expresses in this apartment located in Valencia an elegant style, sober and a perfect balance and harmony.

The Langen Foundation art gallery is located in the German city Hombroich and it is made by the Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Episode 9.

Andrew World, which has its head office in Valencia, is one of the leading companies regarding the design, manufacture and exportation of chairs and seating. This building created by the Haas Architekten team in Berlin stands out because of the simplicity of its structure and the calming image it conveys. The Murano Urban Resort Hotel brings avant-garde aesthetics to life, far removed from the overcrowded classic Parisian hotels. La Seu Restaurant in Denia, Alicante, is one of the most emblematic restaurants in this Costa Blanca city as it is situated in a fully restored building in the old part of the city.

The Eden Project, designed by architect Nicholas Grimshaw in Cornwall, is an environmental complex unique in the world that focuses on the preservation of natural resources and the contribution of different vegetation to human life.

Episode 10.

Italian company Alessi shows how creativity and functionality can be combined. We find a sample of this in the Crusinallo’s (Italy) showroom and factory. We find the Eurostars Anglí Hotel in Barcelona. It has a modern architectural glass façade that breaks with the architecture of the surroundings. In the Hampstead Village area, London, the Eldridge Smerin architecture and interior design studio has carried out an architectural work that stands out due to the surroundings in which it is placed. Yi Spa is located in Berlin.

The architecture is a Plajer&Franz Studio work and the interior design was conceived by Marco Thiele and Stephan Gustavus, owners of this premises. Placed on the Slovenian Izola coast, architect Rok Oman –from the Ofis Arhitekti team– could develop an interesting apartment building aimed to young families and couples.  

Episode 11.

The Italian company Moroso opened a new showroom in the London centre. It has become the first upholstered furniture producer in Italy. A former restored farm house located in Donderen has been transformed into a wide house thanks to the work of the Dutch architecture AEQUO studio. Gaig restaurant, placed in the Barcelona’s enlargement, delight its clients with an absolutelly different aesthetics and with the quality and experience resulting of the noted Carles Gaig for more than 30 years.

Architect Ramón Esteve has created a double level house in a building located in the oldest part of Valencia. Vulcania Park was created by Hans Hollein in the Auvergne Natural Park, in France, in order to develop an European vulcanism centre.

Episode 12.

Furniture design company Driade located in Milan has known how to be ahead trends and investigate this industry news. This Mediterranean house project has been carried out by architect Jaime Sanahuja in Oropesa del Mar, Castellón. The Kingly Club is, with no doubt, one of the most glamorous clubs of the British city.

Guillaume Le Prêtre, one of the most prestigious chefs in Paris is in charge of the Toi futuristic restaurant. The Casa da Musica hall in Porto has become a leading architectural building in the Portuguese city. It was designed by Rem Koolhaas.

Episode 13.

From their showroom in Naarden city, Brand van Egmond work to make a functional and refined interior design. Gussman-Valentien studio has impregnated this house, placed in Berlin, with warmth thanks to the wooden covering that envelopes and defines it in its surrounding.

The Bellavista Hotel in Girona shapes an eye-catching image where the glass façade reflects a wonderful panoramic view of Girona. The Lágrimas Negras Restaurant interior design is Christian Liaigre’s who has created a heterogeneous place in Madrid in which a retro-illuminated LG Hi-Macs bar which has abstract motifs stands out. Noted architect Daniel Libeskind’s majestic Imperial War Museum in Manchester symbolizes the First World War conflict.
