Decorative Wooden Pegs & Bunting Flags

Requirements
- Giant Wooden pegs
- Wooden Flag Bunting Shapes with string holes
- String
- Multi-surface chalkboard/blackboard paint
- Multi-surface metallic paint
- Modge Podge Sealer
- Stencil tape & Stencil brush
- Silkscreen adhesive stencils
- Erasable Liquid Chalk
Instructions
- Step 1: ‘Chalkify’ your Wooden Pegs & Wooden Flag Bunting Shapes
- Apply 2-3 coats of multi-surface chalkboard paint to all your wooden shapes & surfaces, allowing it to dry between coats. Condition with writing chalk, by rubbing it all over the peg, then wipe off and it’s ready for chalk messaging!
- Step 2:
- Begin by peeling the adhesive silkscreen from the backing sheet. NOTE: Keep the backing sheet so that you can store your silkscreen when not in use. Then position the adhesive silkscreen where you want to impress you design on the chalkboard peg & bunting flag shapes. Press in place. There is no need to tape it down or use adhesive sprays.
- Step 3:
- Take the Martha Stewart Erasable Liquid Chalk dabber, remove the cap, lid & protective seal. Next, replace the domed sponge topped lid, also known as a dabber.
- Step 4:
- To start simply turn the bottle upside down and tap it onto a paper towel a few times to allow the Erasable Liquid Chalk to flow down into the sponge dabber. Next, begin dabbing the bottle and sponge to fully cover all openings of the stencil design. NOTE: Before removing the silkscreen, take a look at the entire design making sure all design areas are fully covered.
- When you are satisfied that you’ve painted all of the silkscreen, carefully lift to remove it and at the same time reveal your masterpiece! Isn’t that cool? Looks like a professional chalk master created it!
- Step 5:
- Rinse the used silkscreen under running water. Erasable Liquid Chalk will clean easily from the silkscreen while still wet. Although this is a liquid chalk, it will not smudge once dry, only when you use water to wipe it off and do a new design. Super cool!
- Step 6:
- String your flag shapes together using string to create your bunting.

- Two paper chipboard covers about (2.25cm x 2.25cm)
- Book Punch & Binder
- Binding wire (2.25cm long)
- Wire cutter
- Various paper tabs
- Paper Glue
- Mode Podge Sealer
- Printed cork board decorative sheets
- Assorted Ribbons
- Heavy duty corner rounder
Instructions
- Step 1: Prepare your covers and inner sheets
- Take your two chipboard covers which are about 2.25cm in length and width. Make sure they’re a bit bigger than the inner pages. Now using the heavy duty corner rounder, round the corners of your covers and inner sheets. Add any artwork and decorative embellishments, ribbon etc. on your covers and inner sheets. I used some decorative cork sheets.
- Step 2:
- Use a binder to bind your cover & sheets. I used Zutter’s Pink Bind-it-All. Adjust the Bind-it-All stop guide to C-cover setting. Insert the top Cover into the punching slot, front side showing towards the front of the bind-it-all machine, sliding it down to the right so it rests flat in the slot and even against the Stop Guide. Pull down the Bind-it-All handle to punch. Now insert the back cover the other way around, and then repeat the same with the back cover. Now take your inner sheets, adjust the Bind-it-All Stop Guide to “D-Inner Pages” setting. Insert pages into the punching slot, sliding them down to the right so they rest flat in the slot and even against the Stop Guide. (Front side of your pages facing the back of the Bind-it-All tool). Pull down the Bind-it-All handle to punch. Repeat until all your sheets are complete.
- Step 3: Binding
- Take an O’wire of about 2.25cm in length. Cut to size using the wire cutter if necessary. Now put all the pieces together. First put the pages of your book into the O’wire rings, then the front cover. Ensure that the outside of the cover is facing up. Then the back cover ensuring that the outside of the cover is facing down. The order is important as you want to hide the ugly part of the binding between the inside pages and the back cover. Insert into the Bind-it-All and squeeze the binding closed.
- Step 4: Add Tabs
- Use different tabs of your choice, e.g. cut out by your digital cutter, die cutter, by hand or store bought ready made tabs. Print & cut your titles or journal them by hand. Then run them through the Xyron Creative Station sticker maker, adding adhesive to the back and at the same time laminating the front of the Tabs. You can also just use a good paper adhesive and add them to your pages.
- Step 5: Seal & Protect
- After you are done you can seal your covers and/or inner sheets with a paper Modge Podge sealer to protect them.
