What you will need:
- Old wooden sleeper (from the garden)
- Silicone rubber mix
- Paintbrush
- Polystyrene piece
- Drill
- Wood screws
- SA Pine
- Steel trowel
- 2 parts riversand
- 1 part stone
- 1 part cement
- A packet of Oxide
- Water
What to do:
- Mix the silicone mixture according to the manufacture’s instructions
- Apply three layers of the silicone rubber mixture onto the wooden sleeper making sure that all three sides (except the bottom side) of the sleeper are covered. Leave coated wooden sleeper to dry for at least 24 hours
- Peel away the dried silicone rubber mould from the wooden sleeper. Place the silicone mould into the boxing (you can use the dimensions of the wooden sleeper to make the boxing)
- Half fill the rubber mould with concrete then use a steel trowel to spread the mixture.
- Place a small piece of polystyrene on top of the concrete – press it down firmly into the concrete and make sure that it is level with the top of the silicone mould.
- Fill up the area around the polystyrene to the top. You will need to put some weight on the polystyrene to keep it position. The best thing use is a brick.
- Gently tap the boxing with a rubber mallet to remove any air pockets that are still remaining. Leave it to dry for atleast 5 days.
- To remove from the concrete sleeper from the silicone mould; first unscrew the boxing and then peel away the silicone mould from the concrete sleeper
