Trend Office
Room – Den / Office space
In this episode Susanne will start with a raw white space. The finished product will be a double duty room that will work both as a home office for a successful architecture business and as a place to kick back and relax. The top 10 design trends will be used to transform this mundane space into a trendy yet functional live/work space. The current trends revolve around using layers and texture to decorate a space as opposed to blocks of solid colour on the wall. Susanne and her team hope to teach this key design lesson by bringing in patterned carpet, high lacquer pieces and large colourful artwork to liven up an otherwise neutral colour palette. There will be a storage component to this episode to deal with the reality of an office space. Innovative solutions for clutter, books and stereo equipment will be implemented using the latest trends. An already existing closet will be turned into shelving for books. A simple canvas painted black with a white geometrical shape will be attached via hinge to a shelf space and used to disguise this otherwise unsightly area. A cabinet will be brought in to disguise a large stereo system and many one of kind items will be used to personalize the space.

Canadian Foyer
Room – Foyer
This issue is all Canadian. What sort of design style really represents a Canadian look? There really isn’t one. Canada is made up of many different cultures and these cultures help to shape our individual design styles in Canada.
What we do have is four distinct seasons to consider in any home design, especially in the front foyer. A foyer provides the first impression for an entire house. It’s the welcome area that can make guests feel right at home and the area that deals with all the elements our Canadian weather has to offer. Unfortunately many foyers end up in a state of disarray. This is the case in this episodes very dark, unwelcoming front entrance. Suzanne has come up with a dramatic black & white solution that will address functionality and give the front entrance a sophisticated Park Avenue feel. The dark grey walls will be painted bright white and black ribbon will be used to showcase hanging prints. A stylish bistro floor will be laid in tile to provide a durable yet chic look. A sleek bench will be added for putting on boots while hooks will be hung the length of the wall for easy, organized coat access. Large coach lanterns will be hung from the ceiling to provide light from an elegant source. A mirror will be added to reflect this light and softly illuminate the space.
