Picture Perfect
Lauren, a sassy and stylish 15-year-old, is granted her wish to have Chris and Steven transform her little girl’s bedroom into one that reflects the young woman she is today. Meeting the avid photographer with cameras in hand, Chris and Steven discover that Lauren is funky, design savvy and mature beyond her years. Chris sees Lauren as “15 going on 21” and wants the room to reflect just that – but Steven can’t ignore that Lauren isn’t all grown up yet! Will the small space fit all their big ideas? Steven leads the team transforming Lauren’s room into a mature but teen-spirited “gallery” celebrating her own original photography. Chris takes Lauren shopping for the perfect outfit for her first gallery opening –her own bedroom exhibit! Transformation complete, Lauren now has the ideal space to escape from her little brothers, hang out with her friends and do homework anywhere in the room at her new rolling Parson’s table. Her photographs are beautifully displayed, including one used for the room’s central masterpiece – a larger-than-life custom headboard for her brand-new bed.

Home Ice Advantage
Roberta’s husband Bryan is a star defenseman with the Toronto Maple Leafs. When he’s on the road, she’s home alone in their brand-new luxury condo which has yet to be decorated. Chris and Steven meet the cuddly couple on home ice at the Air Canada Centre and while Steven is shooting the puck around with Bryan, Chris learns that Roberta has a taste for casual comfort. She makes it clear that she can’t stand anything modern and stipulates that their rugged dining room table has to stay. But Steven finds their client’s condo calls out for cosmopolitan chic! Chris doesn’t want to ignore their clients’ wishes and wants the furnishings to be all about comfort, but Steven isn’t willing to ignore the sophisticated architectural bones of the space. While Steven and the team work their magic, Chris and Bryan conspire to treat Roberta to a little pampering at a day spa. The star treatment continues back at home when the couple sees their living room/dining room awash in soft neutral colour and linen fabrics. A custom-made area rug with a leather border helps to define the living room space; it sits beneath a pair of overstuffed sofas and a pair of his-and-her leather club chairs. The beloved dining room table is given a new look with the addition of new slip-covered dining room chairs. A grand floor-to-ceiling mirror and large chrome-dipped coach lamp adds a much needed sparkle and focus at the end of this large room. It’s a perfect mix of comfort and no-fuss elegance for both the client and the space.

In the Pink
Upon their first meeting Krista impresses Steven and Chris with her sassy and bold take on fashion. As the trio takes in a fashion show, this fashionista’s love of colour becomes apparent, but for her tiny city loft, how much is too much? Chris and Steven see for themselves that her urban crash pad needs some serious help – there is nowhere to sit or entertain and while Krista has decorated the space with unique art and accessories, the effect is too busy. There is no flow between the kitchen and living room area and the concrete floor is cracked and old. Steven wants to install new flooring and see the small space awash with colour, including the exposed brick that Krista said must remain untouched. Chris, on the other hand, is concerned that too much colour will make Krista’s unique pieces disappear and while he would never paint the brick wall, he thinks a coat of white paint is all the floor needs. And then there’s the issue of a giant swordfish… With the fate of the brick and the swordfish in the hands of Steven and the team, Chris and Krista shop for fashion accessories to bring her personal style in line with her new space. Upon their return, they find the room drenched in white with punches of pink and blue, including a custom made banquette. Chris and Steven’s pared back yet dynamic redesign has Krista beaming from ear to ear.

Chocolate Chopper
New guy in town, Michael is a jet setter, art aficionado and magazine mogul. He already has lots of pieces but, being a workaholic, he just hasn’t had the time to pull it all together. Michael reminds Chris and Steven of a modern-day Cary Grant with a rock n’ roll edge. After chasing Michael through a hectic business day, it’s clear to Chris and Steven that Michael’s life is his work. Chris thinks his home should be his haven, a place to escape and relax. But Steven, however, thinks it’s time to turn up the drama for this client and nothing less than “wow!” will do. His home is an extension of his workspace and projecting the right professional image is key. Steven leaves the final assembly of the living room/dining room space to Chris and the team while he offers Michael a unique vantage point on his new hometown – a helicopter tour, the perfect ”wow!” for the guy who has everything. Returning home Michael is delighted with the dramatic effect of the rich chocolate coloured walls throughout the entire space. He falls for the new custom cowhide dining room chairs that add incredible drama to the room. This makeover is dramatic and masculine – Michael finally has a place where he can both relax and make a professional statement.

Joining the Circus
Over cups of hot tea, delicate finger sandwiches and scones, Steven and Chris confirm that Tina is all lady; she’s classic, formal and elegant. Steven decides her master bedroom should reflect this side of her personality, but Chris doesn’t want to overlook her young age and trendy contemporary wardrobe. Her master bedroom is an awkward shape with exposed stairs that eliminate usable wall space, but the glorious lake view more than compensates. The biggest challenge Chris and Steven face is using all nine pieces of Tina’s existing bedroom set and trying to keep the television. The men agree on one thing: To enjoy her bedroom to the fullest, Tina needs to learn how to just “let go” and where better to do that than swinging from a trapeze? So it’s off to circus school for Steven and Tina while Chris and the design team put the finishing touches on Tina’s romantic garden-themed bedroom, complete with custom beds for her beloved cats. The sumptuous new linens, luxurious drapes, the cosy reading nook and the makeover on her beloved bench thrill Tina. She knows she will spend countless days enjoying the lake view in ladylike style.

Walk on the Wild Side
Toni and her husband have just purchased a compact condo, but for a couple that likes to entertain, there just isn’t enough space. To get to know Toni, the boys meet her for an early morning workout – much to Chris’ chagrin! She gets right down to business and it’s clear she knows exactly what she wants – but will she leave the designing to the experts? If Chris had his way he would transform Toni’s living room to look like a sleek, high-end executive office reception area. Steven, on the other hand, taking inspiration from her red lipstick and seeing Toni’s wild side wants to bring a bit of the exotic into the space, all the while making it look like a home. As Steven works his magic in the living room and transforms the extra room into a dining room/office, Chris helps Toni get in touch with her wild and sexy side. Chris and Toni return from their adventure to discover the living room and new dining room/ office has been put through it’s own very sleek and sexy makeover. Warm dove-grey walls give the space a sleek contemporary look and the hits of lipstick red through out this space is sure to have this couple puckering up!

Diamond Inspired
Pizza in the bedroom is a messy proposition, but shopping for the toppings with Julie provides Chris and Steven with valuable insight into what this food-loving mother of three might want for her master bedroom redesign. Chris says she is all about posh sophistication, while Steven sees her mischievous and creative side. The existing look, a gift from Julie’s husband over ten years ago, complete with a painted tent faux finish, just doesn’t reflect who they are today. Chris knows just what to do - boutique hotel chic, but Steven is going for boutique hotel gone wild. A design challenge comes from an oversized art deco armoire that must stay, but the inlayed diamond pattern inspires the overall theme, while colour inspiration comes from the family cat.
Leaving Steven and the team behind to finish the job, Chris heads out with Julie to try on jewelry with the carat, clarity, colour and cut worthy of a true sophisticate. Julie is elated by the change. With the over-the-top big top out of the picture, the bed, the picture luxury and sophistication, defines the space with its oversized grey velvet diamond tufted headboard and matching base promises many warm and cozy nights to come.
25 - 29 January
Family Comfort
Chris and Steven join Karn and her pup, Violet, on their daily walk through an old brick factory and both understand what she’s all about – warmth and comfort – the very things they see are lacking in her family room. Steven tries to convince Chris to bring the great outdoors in; he’s thinking, rustic country. Chris insists the diamond earrings Karn wore to the walk symbolizes her chic, urban self; he wants to stress that side of her. And just how will they reconcile the focal point, the terribly disproportionate combination of the fireplace and plasma TV?
Steven and Karn meet up with Chef Juan Salinas so that Karn can feed the guests that will be surely dropping by to ogle and make use of the comfortable country casual/city chic space. She is overjoyed at the sight of her brand new cultured stone fireplace with the TV resting happily in place. As she joyfully leaps onto her brand new goose-down sectional it is clear the new room will quickly become a family favourite.
01 - 05 February
Star Power
Chris and Steven meet their agent, Lilana on the set of The Young and the Restless where they are able to get the inside scoop on this busy lady from one of her dearest friends and client, Melody Thomas Scott (aka Nikki Newman).
Back at Lilana’s condo a makeover is certainly necessary, including gutting the kitchen! With all the working and traveling Lilana does, Steven wants to make her living room and dining room a warm place where she can enjoy being by herself. Chris doesn’t see Lilana slowing down at all and wants to give her a glamorous, soap inspired setting where she can meet clients and entertain in style.
Chris and Lilana smile pretty for some glamorous headshots while Steven leads the team in transforming the space. When she returns homes, thanks to the rich mahogany floors and painted and wood paneled walls Lilana doesn’t recognize her own home. She is speechless at the sight of her cozy, yet luxurious and fresh new living room. The glamorous, yet not intimidating, dining room amazes her. Not much of a cook, Lilana resolves to take lessons so that she can truly appreciate her brand new stainless steel appliances, white cupboards and black granite countertops. Her condo has become a glamorous, cozy space she can proudly show off to anyone on the A-list and enjoy in solitude.
08 - 12 February
Home Gallery
Chris and Steven meet Sandy at a local art gallery where they learn to appreciate art through her eyes. They sense she is a very reserved, introspective yet strong, unique and creative woman and are excited to see the challenge that lies before them at Sandy’s space. They are struck by how closely Sandy’s loft resembles that of the gallery. The one big difference – instead of Sandy’s art collection of up and coming Canadian artists being on display, all 40 pieces are scattered around the barren living room/dining room. Steven is excited to create an art gallery in Sandy’s home, which means minimalist furnishings and putting the entire collection on display. For Chris, the key word is home; he would rather display a few choice pieces at any one time.
15 - 19 February
Dancing in the Kitchen
Christine, a food and cooking expert, brings Chris and Steven to one of her favourite cafes. Then and there Steven decides that Christine’s kitchen, the most important room in her house, requires a touch of Old World European charm because that’s part of who she is. Chris is pushing for a modern, contemporary feel because that’s how Christine lives. When Steven sees the kitchen he immediately thinks big kitchen with a large dining table, but the 50-inch television has got to go. Chris interprets the presence of the television set to mean that Steven’s dining area should really be a family room, but he can’t get anyone else on his side. Steven takes Christine to learn how to Cha-Cha leaving Chris and the team to cook up a spectacular makeover.

In the Dog House
Deb and her husband rescued her dogs from the Humane Society after volunteering to take them for walks. Wanting to share the experience she brings Chris and Steven to volunteer to walk some dogs and get to know her better. She’s ready to rid her living room and dining room of orange pine and the junky mishmash of furniture. Chris is happy to oblige, but Steven sees some true bohemian in her style and wants to give the living room and dining room a refined bohemian edge. When they see her space they both agree the orange pine everywhere is fine for a cottage, but not for a city home. Can bohemian and contemporary work together? And what is the best way to brighten up a room with such little natural light coming in?
