In each hour-long programme Kirstie will take us on a journey into the world of crafts and home making, a world where the unique style of homemade beats mass produced designs of the high street.

She’ll be on the hunt for the best of handmade inventiveness, design and craft. We’ll see her at auction houses, reclaiming and then restoring wonderful pieces of furniture. Kirstie, and viewers at home, will learn how to create unique and exclusive creations from homemade soap and candles to pillow cases and table cloths.

Along the way she’ll meet all the wonderful artisans who keep the great British tradition for crafts alive from furniture makers and antique restorers to glass blowers and flower arrangers, and we’ll learn some of the key skills of the humble craftsman.

As the recession looms large and the nation retreats into their homes, this programme embraces the concept of renovation and restoration and aims to show that with a little creativity and inspiration it is possible to not only to make do with what you’ve got, but even to make better.
