Sweet and Spiced Pecans
What makes this recipe really sing: The sweetness of the agave and strong pepper taste makes this a perfect cocktail nut. These also freeze beautifully. Make a double batch and when people just pop over you have a hidden treasure in the freezer for them.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup dark agave nectar
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups pecan
Method
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a medium bowl stir together agave, pepper, salt, allspice, sugar and add pecans, tossing to coat well.
- Spread pecans in a shallow baking pan and bake in middle of oven 15 to 18 minutes, then stir and bake 7 minutes more.
- Transfer to a sheet of parchment paper and let cool.
- When cool enough to handle break apart pecans.
