Cook-Off SA 2012 Competition Terms and Conditions

  1. The Cook-Off South Africa 2012 (“the competition”) is open to anyone interested in cooking and over the age of 18 years and residing in the Republic of South Africa. The competition is not open to professional chefs;
  2. The Competition closes on the 10th of June both days inclusive;
  3. During this period, you can enter the competition online by logging onto www.thehomechannel.co.zawebsite for the www.kia.co.za webstie and following the online instructions;
  4. the following factors will result in an entry being void:
    • failure to complete the online submissions correctly;
    • failure to include the name of the dish;
    • failure to provide the method and time involved in preparing the dish;
    • failure to ensure that the ingredients for the dish are readily available in the respective countries
    • Failure by the entrant to enter their full names and contact details (as required in terms of the competition).
    • Failure to include any other relevant information as requested.
  5. The Cook-Off SA 2012 judges shall choose the Final Contestants who will compete based on the best recipe submitted online by the entrant; the judges shall determine this in their sole and absolute discretion.
  6. A total of 27 contestants will be chosen by judges; nine finalists will then be chosen and a final coo-off of the last three contestants will take place;
  7. The 27 contestants will be required to attend the cook-off competiton in Johannesburg and avail themselves for all publicity, proudction filming etc.  Accommodation and flights will be paid by Cook-Off SA 2012.
  8. All contestants will be required to sign an indemnity form prior to competing in the Competition. Failure to sign the indemnity by the contestants will result in disqualification;
  9. By entering the competition, the entrants understand that they may be required to carry out local travel in order to participate;
  10. By entering the competition, the entrants understand and agree that they will be filmed and feature in a television programme of the Cook-Off South Africa 2012 in South Africa for no remuneration, to be broadcast on DStv182, The Home Channel; and understand and agree that they grant ABC / The Home Channel rights in perpetuity on all filmed material of the programme and all associated media.
  11. By entering the competition, the entrants agree that they will avail themselves as reasonably needed by ABC / The Home Channel for all filming purposes as required for the television programme and agree to adhere to all technical and creative requirements as needed for the television programme.  This includes adhering to all production schedules.
  12. Entry is open to anyone, 18 years or over domiciled in the Republic of South Africa, with a valid Identity Document and Passport, except any professional chef ( whether an individual is a professional chef or not shall be determined by the judges in their sole and absolute discretion), director, member, partner, employee or agent of or consultant to anyone associated with MNTV & Radio Worx and Kia South Africa including, but not limited to Kia’s advertising agencies associated with this competition, and any spouse, life partner, parent, brother, sister, business partner or associate of such persons is prohibited;
  13. The judges reserve the right to change the competition dates without prior notice. The Contestants will be furnished notice in respect of the change. In the event of such change, all participants agree to waive any rights they may have in terms of this competition and acknowledge that they have no recourse against the producers, channel, sponsors, its agents and/or promoters;
  14. The channel reserves the right to terminate this competition immediately and without notice. In the event of such termination, all participants agree to waive any rights they may have in terms of this competition and acknowledge that they have no recourse against the channel, its agents and/or promoters;
  15. The producers reserve the right to photograph the contestants and winner and use the contestant’s and winner’s name and photographs for publicity purposes including but not limited to posting such photograph on websites;
  16. The producers reserve the right to use the main dish recipe in any way it deems fit and such recipe shall become the property of the producers;
  17. The producers shall not be held liable for any damage of whatsoever nature arising or resulting from the use or submission or uploading of any name, material, photograph, picture, graphic or image during the competition;
  18. The producers shall not be liable for any damage, death, loss or injury resulting from the use of the prize, including but not limited to any damage, death, loss or injury to any entrant  whilst travelling to/from Johannesburg and/or abroad, or any loss to or damage to the entrants property whilst travelling to/from Johannesburg and/or abroad;
  19. The prize cannot be transferred, substituted, amended, exchanged, or redeemable for cash.
  20. The Competition shall not impose any obligation on the producers to make payment for any tax obligations on behalf of the winner/s to the South African Revenue Services and the winner/s shall bear liability for payment of such tax obligations to the South African Revenue Services. The winner/s indemnifies and holds the producers harmless from any and all liabilities which may arise in respect of the above.
  21. By submitting an entry, entrants accept and unconditionally agree with the above terms and conditions.
  22. Each dish must be completed, from start to presentation, within 3 hours.
