The Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition takes viewers into the homes of South Africa’s top 8 Caesarstone kitchens to learn about what makes a great kitchen design.  We also meet the designers and homeowners behind each kitchen and get up to date on the latest kitchen design trends.  Which kitchens will win the imported and local design categories and the R200,000 prize money?  Watch each of the 10 episodes to find out how you could win a KitchenAid mixer worth R10,000 – every week!

Week 10

All that’s left in the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year competition is for the judges to select and announce their winners. Kitchen designers and the media are invited to attend a sumptuous awards lunch at South Africa’s 3rd best restaurant, and home of the Eat Out 2016 Awards’ Chef of the Year, Gregory Czarnecki – Waterkloof in the Cape. Join us to find out who has won the imported kitchen category and the local kitchens category with R100,000 up for grabs for each!

Week 9

Our final local kitchen finalist, Lisa and Danilo head to Zimbali just outside of Durban to view an exquisite new holiday home.  Designed by Amy Kidger of Michele Throssel Interiors, this designer was given carte blanche when it came to designing not just the kitchen, but the entire interior as well.  With amazing attention to detail, no area of this kitchen design was not thought through!

Week 8

Episode 8 sees Lisa and Danilo visiting a beautiful new holiday home in the Simbithi Eco Estate in KZN.  Homeowner and interior design aficionado, Bernadette Sampson, paired up with kitchen designer Paula Cremer of Kitchen Classics to create her dream space featuring Caesarstone Clamshell in the kitchen, lounge and bar areas.  With a gorgeous view both indoors and outside, this is a holiday home we’d all like to visit!

Week 7

Another week in KZN brings us to the home of trend fundi and fashion buyer, Kim Rowan, with her ‘Industrial Glam’ kitchen designed by Wendy Douglas of Douglas & Douglas.  We find out what the judges thought of this uber-trendy kitchen, and just how Wendy goes about getting to grips with her clients’ personal senses of style in order to come up with their perfect kitchens.

Week 6

We remain in the Durban area in Episode 6, where we visit another former Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year winner from Kitchen Classics, Kim Hansen, and homeowner Tania Dally. In this week’s show, Danilo discovers his shared Italian heritage with the homeowner, while Lisa gets a tour of the expansive design. With a 4-metre-long Caesarstone island, this impressive, all-white kitchen is an entertainer’s dream.

Week 5

The Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year presenters are in the Durban area for week 5, visiting the 2nd local kitchen design finalist in the competition.  Two-time former winner, Beth Haynes, is the designer of this classic kitchen, while Marisa McKenzie talks us through how her new kitchen needed to serve her family of 5.

Week 4

In week 4 of the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year insert series Lisa and Danilo jet off to Johannesburg to visit the first local kitchen finalist in the competition.  Homeowner Craig Rodney is on hand to explain why they chose a distinctive industrial style for this new-build kitchen, while Optima Kitchens representative Willie van Eeden explains the design thinking and material choices in response to the client brief.

Week 3

Episode 3 takes Lisa Aspeling and Danilo Acquisto to a luxurious holiday home in Plettenberg Bay to see the second of 2 imported kitchen design finalists.  They are received by designer Sam Edmeades and company owner of Inside Living, since the homeowners are based in Johannesburg.  Look out for some distinctive European kitchen design trends and for how Inside Living expertly blended the kitchen design into the home’s overall design style.

Week 2

This week Lisa Aspeling and Danilo Acquisto begin their journey by visiting the first of the two imported kitchen design finalists in Mossel Bay. After hearing the judges’ thoughts on the kitchen designed by Mathilda Pienaar of Eurocasa, they go and see this Caesarstone kitchen in the flesh. Unfortunately, the homeowners are out of the country, but we get an exciting tour of the kitchen and come to a better understanding of why the judges selected this kitchen.

Week 1

In Episode 1 of the Caesarstone Kitchen of the Year series we meet the 5 judges and the series presenters, who explain how the competition will work over the coming 10 weeks.  After much deliberation and discussion, the judges reveal their top 2 imported kitchen designs and their top 6 local kitchen designs.  These 8 finalist designer-homeowner pairs are in the running to win a R100,000 cash prize, per category!
